1.   What information do we gather about you

The information we gather falls into three categories:

1.1            Personal information you voluntarily supply when you submit a story or an event, subscribe to our newsletter, complete a survey, enter a competition or provide your email address

1.2            When you wish to buy or utilise any of our promotional services; and

1.3            Tracking information collected as you navigate through our site

The personal data that we may ask you to supply could include the following:

1.4            your name, address, and email address; and

1.5            your postcode and telephone number; and

1.6             (if you make purchases) your credit card or other financial or payment details.

1.8            To take part in voluntary reader surveys related to Africa Fashion Magazine

1.11         to send you information regarding our services with your consent;
1.12         to notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions from time to time;
1.13         for producing statistics and other information relating to our website and the users of our website. Africa Fashion may perform statistical, demographic and marketing analyses of subscribers, and their subscribing and purchasing patterns, for marketing and customer service purposes.

We shall only disclose your personal data to other people in the following circumstances:

2.1       to verify and process any payment instructions that you give us when you order any of our services;

3.    General Information

3.1       Any information or statistics relating to our business that we disclose to others shall not identify you personally. We may, for example, perform statistical analysis of the behaviour of the users of our website in order to measure interest in the various areas of our site and to tell advertisers how many users of our website have seen or “clicked” their advertising banners. This information, and any other general information about our users that we share with advertisers and other partners, will not disclose personal information about you.

3.2   Voluntary Survey Emails

3.3       We may send you an email inviting you to participate in reader surveys. Reader surveys greatly help us to improve our digital magazine and any information we obtain in such surveys will not be shared with third parties.

Readers are primarily contacted via email, which link to online surveys, but may occasionally be contacted by telephone or mail. If you provide your email address as a customer or newsletter subscriber, Africa Fashion reserves the right to send you promotional emails about products and services offered by Africa Fashion, fundraising campaigns, and occasional events that Africa Fashion participates in. 4.     Sale and Supply

4.1    We will never sell your email address to a third party or sell lists of emails to other companies. We do however send our own newsletter from our own email servers which may include promotions from our advertisers from time to time. These are never spammy, they always provide value to the reader and the frequency is never more than 2 a week.

We shall comply with the following restrictions in relation to your personal information.

(a) We shall not sell your personal data to anyone else.

(b) Subject to the exception in point 2.3 above, we shall not supply your personal data to anyone else so that they can use it for their own purposes. The only time your email address could be transferred to another party is if that party actually bought the brand Africa Fashion magazine in its entirety. This would constitute the third party actually becoming Africa Fashion magazine.

(C) We contract with other companies to provide services on our behalf, including credit-card and billing processing, website analytics, and for remarketing or to advertise Africa Fashion across the internet. We provide these companies only with the information they need to perform their services. These service providers are restricted from using this data in any way other than to provide services for Africa Fashion and they may not share or resell this data.

5.   Security of your personal information

We shall take steps to ensure that your personal data is kept reasonably secure whilst it is in our possession, and your credit card details will only be stored and transmitted by us in an encrypted form.

  • IP Addresses
    We use the IP address log in an aggregate fashion to track access to our site. Log data is  used in aggregate to analyse usage of our website.

5.3       Account and Service-Related Email

Africa Fashion reserves the right to send you email relating to your account status, if you have purchased one of our services. This includes order confirmations, renewal/expiration notices, notices of account problems, other transactional emails and notifications about major changes to our website and/or to our Privacy Policy.

5.4       Emails From You

If you send us email, you should be aware that information disclosed in email may not be secure or encrypted and thus may be available to others. 5.5       Send a story Feature

Africa Fashion readers may use this feature to send links to your articles or to produce your own article. The email address that you supply to use this service will only be used to send you a response to your requested article feature.

We use reasonable precautions to protect our users’ personal information and to store it securely. 7. Amendments, cancellation, and contact us

At your request we shall make any amendments that you stipulate to the personal data that you have supplied us with.
